Thurrock 0 - 1 Weston Super Mare
Hogg 5

After last Saturday's poor performance away to Eastleigh, Colin McBride made a raft of changes.

Restored to defence after suspension was captain Jimmy McFarlane with Richard Goddard moving back to his centre forward role. Dave Collis was restored to his more familiar right back position which meant that Richard Thomas dropped to the bench along with Mark Goodfellow and Martin Carthy who were replaced by new signing Darius Charles and the excellent Garry Cross. Steve Harper also return upfront after recovering from injury.

Thurrock got off to a disastrous start after only five minutes of this Conference South clash when Lewis Hogg put the visitors in front with a close range header from a Scott Walker cross after confusion in defence. Thurrock started to get back into the game and Garry Cross’ excellent through ball sent Steve Harper clear but keeper Steven Jones rushed out to save at his feet. Weston continued to edge the first half and Pritchard was unlucky when his header went just past the post. Weston nearly doubled their lead just before half time when Pritchard’s shot went whizzed over the bar from 25 yards.

Thurrock looked were much better in the the second half when Kris Lee went close with a shot with twenty minutes left on the clock. Lee Jarman also headed against his own post but it was the closest that Thurrock came despite maintaining possession for long periods.
