An
excellent second half performance from playoff contenders Farnborough
Town saw them deservedly take the points. The first half was an even
affair with Steve Harper unlucky not to open the scoring after only 4
minutes when his shot was saved after Garry Cross’ clever flick. After
20 minutes Farnborough were unlucky when Carl Gibbs shot well over from
Matt Warner’s deep cross. After that the first half was fairly devoid of
chances as 0-0 seemed a fair score-line.
The second half saw little in the way of chances until Steve Laidler
unleashed a mighty 25 yard shot straight into the top corner giving
Knight no chance. Four minutes later
the lead was doubled and the game over as Gibbs ran past a number of
challenges and clipped the ball over the onrushing Knight. Thurrock
tried to get back into the game but Farnborough were far too smart and
experienced to let a big lead slip.
