Carshalton Athletic 0 - 0 Thurrock

Thurrock came out of a dull encounter with a point in a game that neither team deserved to win. Colin McBride had to change his pack with Mark Janney and John Purdie coming out of the side through injury and suspension. Richard Goddard came back in at centre half after his suspension and Tom Beech made a first start after impressing off the bench against Welling.  With the game being largely played in the middle third, the only real moment of note in the first half was a Richard Goddard header that went just wide. Thurrock’s approach play lacked a cutting edge despite the fledging partnership of Beech and Harper looking busy upfront.

The second half followed much the same pattern, with in form goalscorer Carshalton forward, Luke Fontana marshalled out of the game by the Thurrock defence. Steve Harper had the same problem up front for Thurrock as Tom Beech tired in the second half and was eventually replaced by Julian Edwards. Carshalton had slightly the better of the second half and Glenn Knight was the busier of the two keepers with a couple of saves to make.
