Bognor Regis Town 0 - 1 Thurrock

Carthy 20

Thurrock put in a fine display to move five places up the table into 7th and jumped their hosts in the process. Bognor started well and Glenn Knight did well to save from Richard Hudson. Dan Beck should have scored from the rebound but only succeeded in hitting the side netting. Thurrock’s nemesis of their last few encounters, Luke Nightingale went off injured and moments later Thurrock took the lead. Craig Stoner made a mess of Steve Harper’s cross and Martin Carthy headed into the open goal. Minutes later Harper’s through ball found Carthy but his shot was well saved this time by Stoner. Thurrock continued to press and Mark Janney nearly doubled Thurrock’s lead but his header was blocked as it was going in. Bognor, however, were not going to give up and Beck’s long ranger was well dealt with by Knight.

On the hour Harper was unlucky not score after his run and shot, which was saved low down by Stoner. They continued to press and Jimmy McFarlane’s header went just over from a Dave Collis corner. Bognor started to put on the pressure as Thurrock dropped deep and only a fine double save from Glenn Knight preserved Thurrock’s lead.
