Thurrock 1 - 2 Margate
McFarlane 72 Clarke 76
Stadart 78

Thurrock were beaten by two goals in two minutes in another poor display against Margate.

The first half was a dull affair, which was only notable for two good saves by George Sealey in the Thurrock goal, who had come in for the injured Billy McMahon. Glenn Poole was also unlucky in injury time when everyone missed his cross after he had got in behind the defence.

Colin McBride changed things at half time, with David Lee coming on for Ryan Kirby. The game livened up in the 72nd minute, an excellent cross by the otherwise quiet Poole found Jimmy McFarlane at the far post and his looping header beat Trego in the Margate goal. This only spurred Margate into action as they were level within four minutes. David Lee gave the ball away in midfield and Margate broke quickly, with Clark blasting the ball home from fifteen yards. Two minutes later Margate scored the winner. A goalmouth scramble led to Che Stadart poking home from close range even though Sealey appeared to get a hand on the ball. Thurrock nearly equalised late on when Dave Collis’ excellent cross was met by Tresor Kandol with a thundering header which unfortunately crashed against the underside of the bar.
