We secured our first home win of the season after a hard fought victory against Hayes.

The game started brightly enough with fleet going close on a couple of occasions until the 18th minute when Kris Lee found space in penalty box and neatly shot across the keeper to make it one nil.

Billy McMahon was then called into to action making a good low down save to his right to deny Hayes. The game threatened to boil over as the referee struggled to get control over the match, with Kirby being booked for an innocuous looking tackle in the middle of the park and Mark Mosley only seeing yellow when blatantly pushing Heffer to the floor. The rest of first half petered out with Thurrock looking the more likely to score but Hayes always dangerous on the break.

The second half start brightly with Lee Hodges in inspirational form on the left wing and Kris Lee's strong running up front. A long ball from Dave Collis found Kandol wide on the right, he ghosted into the area but shot high and wide when others were better placed.

Against the run of play Hayes equalised on 77 minutes when Warner made the most of hesitation in the Thurrock defence to slot home.

Thurrock seemed to have the stuffing knocked out of them and began to sit deeper until Lee Hodges picked the ball up on the left wing, cut inside and smashed a shot which gave Davies in the Hayes goal no chance. Two minutes later Lee Hodges was unceremoniously upended in the box and Kandol stepped up to put the game beyond reach but unfortunately TK capped a miserable night for himself hitting the penalty high over the bar.

A much improved performance over Saturdays effort and the players should take some confidence from this hard earned victory.
