Whilst it is six wins out of six away from home, we have
yet to record a win at Ship Lane. With the wind behind them in the first half it
was the visitors who made the early running but they had to wait until the 37th
minute to take the lead when a mistake by John Purdie let in David Town who
smashed the ball past the advancing Billy McMahon. Four minutes later it was 2-0
as, ex-Wimbledon and Bolton Wanders star, Dean Holdsworth struck a spectacular
free kick from 25 yards into the top right hand corner. We
reduced the arrears shortly after half time when Tresor Kandol converted a penalty
after John Buffong had gone down most of the right wing and then into the box
with Havant defender, Dean Blake, tugging away at his shirt. Holdsworth twice beat McMahon
from the resultant penalty as the referee ordered a re-take of the first effort
for encroachment. |
