Whilst it is six wins out of six away from home, we have yet to record a win at Ship Lane. With the wind behind them in the first half it was the visitors who made the early running but they had to wait until the 37th minute to take the lead when a mistake by John Purdie let in David Town who smashed the ball past the advancing Billy McMahon. Four minutes later it was 2-0 as, ex-Wimbledon and Bolton Wanders star, Dean Holdsworth struck a spectacular free kick from 25 yards into the top right hand corner.

We reduced the arrears shortly after half time when Tresor Kandol converted a penalty after John Buffong had gone down most of the right wing and then into the box with Havant defender, Dean Blake, tugging away at his shirt.

In the 67th minute Havant were down to ten men. Goalkeeper Gareth Howell was shown the red card for retaliation after being fouled by Tresor Kandol. Outfield player Neil Champion took over between the sticks and was soon in action tipping over a long range effort from Lee Hodges. Despite throwing extra bodies forward we could not find a way through the Havant defence Four minutes from the end on the match the visitors made sure of the 3 points when Collis brought down Dean Holdsworth in the box

Holdsworth twice beat McMahon from the resultant penalty as the referee ordered a re-take of the first effort for encroachment.
