Thurrock left Colston Avenue with three points against a poor Carshalton side. A quite first half saw few chances, most of which fell to Thurrock. Kris Lee was full of running upfront but could not deliver the final ball. Andy Woodman pulled off a great save, flicking the ball over the cross bar from a Peters header. Kris Lee was unlucky not to score from a narrow angle as the half neared its end

The second half was a much brighter affair. Colin McBride shuffled his pack by bringing on Danny Shipp upfront for Craig Davidson with Collis moving the left back and moving Adam Parker dropping back into midfield. Shipp’s impact was immediate as he battered the Carshalton defence. He was unlucky after 58 minutes when his left footed shot went just wide. On the hour Shipp could only direct his powerful header straight at Searle in the Carshalton goal. Thurrock were utterly dominant now and Glenn Poole was unlucky when his shot was well saved by Searle. Bertie Brayley then came on for Lee and a minute later Parker’s volley went inches over. The moment that changed the game came with just over ten minutes left. Dave Collis delivered a pinpoint free kick which Parker headed past Searle before he moved. Moments later the lead was nearly doubled, when Poole’s deflected shot went inches wide. Brayley was the next to go close when he saw his shot tipped around the post by Searle. Brayley did kill the game off minutes later when he coolly slipped past the last defender and drilled home left footed from 10 yards.

Thurrock: Woodman, Collis, Davidson (Shipp 45), Goodfellow, McFarlane©, Purdie, Hodges (Fletcher 88), Heffer, Poole, Parker, Lee (Brayley 75).
