A GOOD POINT

Cambridge City 0 - 0 Thurrock

Thurrock battled back from Saturday’s disappointment to gain a point at second placed Cambridge City.

Thurrock started brightly and Glenn Poole went close with a 30 yard shot after Dave Collis’ clever corner. Fleet kept coming forward and peppered the Cambridge goal, but every shot seemed to come in from well outside the box.  After dominating for the first half hour Thurrock were lucky not to go one down when Andy Woodman did well to tip over from a close range header. Thurrock were forced to make a change shortly after when Collis was forced off through illness and Mark Goodfellow came on to replace him. Woodman then raced out bravely to save and injured himself in the process.

The second half was a quite affair. Cambridge had the most of the play but the majority of the chances went to Thurrock. Danny Shipp went close on two occasions and Simon Martin shot woefully wide when sent through by Poole. Goodfellow rescued Thurrock in the last minute when he cleared off of the line.
