CHESHUNT 0 v 2 THURROCK F.C.
        Bowes 30
        Kandol 52

Thurrock produced a fine display to maintain their push to win two trophies this season. After a quiet opening 15 minutes, a through ball by Paul Linger found TK only for the shot to be well saved. Five minutes later good work by the impressive Terry Bowes led to a chance for Kris Lee who shot into the side netting when well placed.

Thurrock opened the scoring on the half hour. A good through ball from Lee found TK whose lobbed ball from the corner of the penalty box found Bowes twenty yards from goal. Without letting the ball bounces Bowes hit an unstoppable volley past the Cheshunt keeper. Thurrock worked hard to maintain their lead and were unlucky not to extend it when Jimmy McFarlane headed Dave Collis’ corner over the bar.

Cheshunt started the second half brightly with Gothard making two smart saves from long-range efforts. However, after 52 minutes Thurrock doubled their lead. TK found himself with the box with two defenders around him yet he managed to wriggle free and slot the ball into the net. Thurrock did well to shut up shop after this with neither team looking likely to score. Lee Allen replaced Gary Howard after 67 minutes and Martyn Lawrence came on for Kris Lee for his first game since November and Kandol was withdrawn late on.
