Wootton Blue Cross 0 Purfleet 4 PURFLEET THROUGH COMFORTABLY Despite struggling with injury's which robbed us of the services of captain Jimmy McFarlane, Steve Brown, Martyn Lawrence and Colin Simpson (the latter two made the subs bench) and with John Purdie away with work Commitments, we still managed to get our biggest win of the season against a very spirited Wootton Side. As early as the forth minute Cliff Akurang was tackled from behind in the penalty area and despite trying to keep his balance was brought down again 5 yards from goal. The referee had no choice but to award us the penalty and send off the Wootton captain for a professional foul, Georgiou slotted the penalty home. The sending off, if anything gave Wootton a boost and although we looked like scoring with every attack Wootton also had one or two moments of there own, usually from long range. After 22 minutes Jamie Southon, captain for the day, found Terry Bowes in space down the inside left channel, he beat the full back and shot from a tight angle to put the game beyond any real doubt. Cliff Akurang scored the third after good work by Linger, Cliff coolly shot into the bottom left hand corner. Colin McBride made a couple of substitutions bringing on Martyn Lawrence and Colin Simpson for the last half hour or so. Colin Simpson then sent the travelling fans home happy when he shot into an empty net following a great run and pass from Lawrence.
