ENFIELD NICK POOR GAME

On saturday at meadow park we suffered our second defeat of the season when a penalty converted by Demba Traore just before half time was sufficient to see Enfield to a 1-0 victory.
The play for the first half a hour was confined mainly to midfield, in the 31st minute a free kick just outside the Enfield area was touched by Paul Linger to Wayne Vaughan whose shot brought an excellent save from ex Sunderland goalkeeper Lionel Perez in the Enfield goal.

In the 42nd minute Terry Bowes really should have done better when unmarked at the far post but he blazed over. We paid the penalty a minute later when Jimmy McFarlane brought down Mark Boyce in the box and Traore put away the penalty. The goal seemed to inspire the home side and Alex O'Reilly did well to keep out a Jay Richardson shot.

The second half saw Colin McBride put on Marc Goodfellow and Dean Smith for Jamie Southern and the injured Jimmy McFarlane but this still did not seem to spark us into action. In the 50th minute Boyce was just wide of the right hand post and then O'reilly saved from Traore.

With 10 minutes left to go Enfield were reduced to 10 men when Richardson was sent off for his second yellow car of the match. In the closing minutes Vaughan just failed to take advantage of a mistake by Lee Doherty and was only just over.
