HONOURS SHARED IN ESSEX DERBY With three attackers, the visitors made life difficult for the Fleet defence
who were without their inspirational skipper - Jimmy McFarlane, who was out
through injury. Craig Edwards, who recently signed from Grays played alongside Paul Linger in the central midfield area. Front men George Georgiou and Steve Browne worked hard keeping the Town defenders busy. Goal scoring chances for both sides were limited to long range efforts with neither keeper having to make any desperate kind of save. Fleet grew more confident as the second half progressed and took more control of the game and for a 25 minute spell looked the more likely to score. Brown and Georgiou both going close. Perhaps the most guilt edged chance fell to Essandoh whom from close range
headed wide as the game entered the final phase. |
