PURFLEET GO TO BATTLE HASTINGS

Purfleet's pre-season continued in the heat at Hastings yesterday.

Terry Bowes scored the first after Jamie Southon's long though ball, which the goalkeeper fumbled and Bowes walked the ball into the net. Soon after Hastings were back on level terms when Zahana-Oni sprinted down the right and played a low ball into the box, Jimmy McFarlane running back towards goal could not get out of the way and toe poked the ball into his own net.

In the second half after numerous substitutions by both teams Purfleet continued to look for the winner. This came via the excellent Paul Linger, who after good work by Bowes tapped in form close range.
