TOO HOT FOR HARLOW

On a humid evening and a rock hard pitch it was never going to be a classic. However, Colin McBride continued to experiment with his side and take the opportunity to run the rule over some of his players.

All in all it was a good solid first half performance with the defence-standing firm against some lively front men the Town had on show. It was Fleet who struck first when Colin Simpson headed home to finish a good move down the left-hand side, but his effort was ruled offside.

The game was played at a good pace and the Fleet lads certainly looked very fit.
The deadlock was broken after a ball played into the path of Terry Bowes saw him coolly slot the ball past the advancing keeper to give Fleet a one nil lead to take into the half time interval.

The second half saw Colin change things again ensuring that all his players took part at some point.
Both sides began to feel the humidity and the pace of the game quite understandably slowed for a long period of time.

As the clock ticked down the home side continued to ask questions of the Fleet defence but were held at bay, although one or two chances should have hit the back of the net.

Substitute Steve Brown picked up a through pass and took on his marker and beat him for pace to score a great goal from the edge of the box to secure the win for Fleet.
