Braintree 0 - 0 Purfleet

FLEET BLUNTED BY THE TREE'S

We had to be content with a single point from our visit to Braintree last Saturday, with the game finishing goalless.
For most of the game both defences were on top and scoring opportunities were few. We did however, in injury time, have a golden opportunity to take all three points when Wayne Vaughan put through by Steve Brown shot straight at Braintree keeper Paul Catley when he had the whole goal to aim at.

It was the home side who started the brighter with a shot from Bradley Quinton and a header from Gavin Cowan being just wide of the mark.
We replied with two good efforts from Vaughan the first being turned away for a corner by a defender and the second bringing out a good save from Catley.

For the home side Oliver Berquez tried his luck from long range but his effort was well over the bar. The second half continued in the same vein as the first forty-five minutes with neither side looking as though they were going to break the deadlock. Then in time added on Catley made his save from Vaughan and at the other end Alex O'Reilly was called into action to save well from Neil Cousins.
